Enterprise Holdings

HPI was awarded the Enterprise Holdings uniform program in February of 2011. This program encompasses its five brand divisions including Alamo, Enterprise and National, serving over 8,000 locations and 68,000 employees.

Challenges

Enterprise Holdings needed one online uniform program to handle all of its brand divisions.

Managers wanted to place one order for multiple employees to save money with bulk shipping while still being able to distribute the orders easily upon arrival.

Instead of a dollar amount, employees receive bi-yearly uniform allotment quantities (set number of items per garment type). An online ordering system needed to track and manage each employee’s allotment usage.

Because of contractual obligations HPI had exactly 90 days to launch the program with all new uniforms and EHI had to have zero down time during the vendor transition.

Solutions

HPI’s solution was to build and develop one uniform website to include all five Enterprise Holdings brands but give each brand its own look and identity.

Each brand site would have a navigation panel listing all job positions such as Manager, Inside Customer Service, Mechanic, etc. Clicking on a job position brings up a quick order view of its approved uniform items To assist managers with ordering for multiple employees at one sitting, a dropdown box listing all eligible employees at their location would be added to the top of each brand site. Website logins activate the appropriate employee dropdown listings and daily feeds from Enterprise Holdings ensure the lists are up to date and accurate.

As uniform items are ordered, allotment balances are automatically checked to ensure each item does not exceed the employee’s allotment for the garment type being ordered (i.e. employee receives 4 shirts per 6 month period). If needed, a manager can order beyond the allotted quantity, but they are alerted when adding these items to the shopping cart. Upon order submittal if any allotments are exceeded, an automatic exception order email is generated and sent for upper management approval.

Results

HPI delivered a multi-brand online uniform store that provided multiple employee ordering within a single session, uniform allotment management, real-time inventory status, order tracking/history, and up-to-date employee data.

The new uniform program went live on-time with zero down time.

Enterprise Holding’s new uniform program and online store was extremely well received by the users at EHI and it has taken their uniform program to another level. Real time data allows the location managers to make buying decisions by instantly having access to each employees allotments and ordering history.
